O.P.I OPI Ink

Where have I been? Well.... On Tuesday I was about to leave for school when I fell down the stairs and landed on my back on a hard-wood floor! That was the LAST thing I needed especially since this week has been so busy in terms of exams. Anyway I'm okay (ish.. I'm in a lot of pain but it doesn't matter)

So back to the polish. First of all can I say, this is such a difficult polish to photograph!!! But it is so beautiful at the same time!

Here is O.P.I - OPI Ink, a polish that I've wanted ever since I first saw swatches of it!

It is a gorgeous blurple that looks magical in the bottle! The base is right between blue and purple and it is loaded with small glass flecks that shift from blue and purple right through to pink and even gold (although the gold is pretty hard to see on the nail). On the nail it settles as a duochrome deep violet shade in most lights and a deep navy occasionally.

Application was quite good. The first coat was pretty sheer and patchy and a second coat evened out the patchiness but a third coat made it totally opaque. At three coats it has this very luxe look to it.

It really does look like ink, albeit a colour-shifting shimmering ink.

The formula was easy to work with and I experienced no dragging but I was working quite quickly and my nails are quite short at the moment anyway. Dry time is normal but with three coats it did dry faster than I expected.

Under flash the metallic element really shows through, as does the bluer side of this polish.

So basically what I'm saying is that this is one heck of an awesome polish! It exudes gothic glamour and looks very luxe on.

31 Days of Nail Art Challenge - Day 6 - Purple

I know, I know, I haven't posted for ages! (well almost a week actually) And I am sorry, but it's because my camera is being majorly weird and won't let me upload anything! :'( 

I've temporarily fixed it, it's a long story but my method of moving photos isn't particularly good for the camera so it better fix itself soon! 

Anyway, on to the post that was supposed to have been posted on Monday:


Purple.

My favourite colour.

A colour I used to wear but only had 3 shades of, one being a hideous sheer pearly grey toned lilac.

But now I have waaaay more, much nicer, shades and I love almost all of them.

Here's the problem: I don't like this mani. Well I do, but not in the photos. The colours look off, the sparkle is dead and it just looks messy. I wish it would look more like it did in real life but oh well, just try and imagine it.

So here it is:

I used a base of Kiko 245 and the did the stripes freehand with Andrea Fulerton Flip Flops in Ruby and Millie. On my accent nail I used the Andrea Fulertons to create a pink to blue gradient, but the colour disappeared in the photos :(

Strange angle but it shows off the gold and silver tones:

Weird underwater photo that is probably the most colour accurate and shows off the duochromeness:

There was a hell of a lot of gold and silver duochrome in real life but it just didn't want to show up in most of the photos....

31 Days of Nail Art Challenge - Day 5 - Blue

Blue.

A colour I like very much but much like green, a colour I never used to wear!

But that has completely changed! I own a lot of blue polishes now.

This is probably one of my favourite blues, Barry M Denim. It genuinely does look like denim on my nails! I'll do a proper swatch post for it soon but for now, here's a quick pic.

On top of that I put Kleancolor Chunky Holo Bluebell (duochromatic micro glitter) and Look Nail Pop Pearl Effect (blue flakies), all sealed in with a coat of Seche Vite.

Before I started I didn't actually know if this combination.would even work, but now that its on my nails I can safely say it did!

I love how it changes completely in different angles.

And under very bright light you can still see the Barry M Denim!

Ah I'm a sucker for magical toppers!

FashionistA Mystical Dragon - Swatch and Review

Monday is another one of my best friend's birthday and so today we went to Covent Gardens! There was 7 of us and it was great day out!

I went bag packing yesterday with my cousin and because it was in a supermarket i couldn't really paint my nails while handling other peoples food so i had to paint them this morning. Grr. Me no likey paining my nails in a rush -_-

This is FashionistA Mystical Dragon.

Its basically a whole lotta glass flecks thrown into a beautiful teal base!

This is 3/4 coats. I used four on some nails because my nail line was still really quite visible. To be honest it'll probably take about 20 coats to make this totally opaque but like I've said before with other polishes, you can only tell if you hold your hand up to a light source.

The annoying thing about this is actually to do with the bottle. The square lid separates from the inside lid! I don't know if this is was supposed to be like that or not but its pretty annoying when you need to paint your nails quickly and only remember afterwards that there are two lids to take off. :/

I guess you could say it has a duochrome effect to it because in some lights it is a pretty bold blue and in others it is sparkling sea green, but mostly is sits somewhere between the two. Also, because of the amount of coats I've done, it kind of looks like a foil.

Overall, a totally awesome polish except for the lid(s)
